Proptech expert highlights the importance of verified asset data at property technology ConFex in Dubai

Dubai, UAE: Javeria Aijaz, Managing Director of Dubai-headquartered HITEK AI, the technology and innovation division of leading smart and green FM company Farnek, gave a candid presentation to delegates at the 9th Property Technology ConFex, yesterday, 9th September, at the Conrad Hotel in Dubai.

During a session entitled ‘From Smart FM to Autonomous FM – The Next Evolution of Building Operations’ Aijaz emphasised that it was critical for building operators to ensure that their building asset data is accurate and verified before adopting AI and connected sensors to self-regulate, predict maintenance needs, and optimise energy use.

“Everyone is racing toward autonomous buildings, but autonomy is only as good as the asset register underneath it. On one estate we surveyed, a technician logged six words about a plant room asset not being operational, which needed to be investigated. Our AI scanned 24 photographs of that same room and found an active alarm on a fire pump controller, a live safety fault nobody had recorded.

“In another building, the register showed one centralised cooling system; when in fact, it was running on two! Any AI optimising against that design intent would be managing a system that no longer exists. Verified asset data isn’t the boring prerequisite to autonomous FM. It is the foundation,” said Aijaz.
